Since 2010, the Aging and Caregiver Resource Center has served hundreds of clients in Region 2000. The Resource Center connects older adults, caregivers, family members, business managers, pastors, and anyone interested in successful aging and caregiving with information, resources, and services.
The Center houses hundreds of free publications on aging and caregiving, and books, DVDs, and other materials available for loan. Popular topics include Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, healthy aging, managing the stress and anxiety of caregiving, locally available resources and service providers, driving, and safety.
The Resource Center is staffed by University of Lynchburg students and community volunteers, who can answer questions, provide referral information, and research topics as requested. Services are provided free of charge and are available in person by appointment or through a telephone consultation.
The Center is a collaborative effort by the Beard Center on Aging at the University of Lynchburg and the Central Virginia Area Agency on Aging. It is made possible through a grant from the Genworth Foundation.
