The University of Lynchburg is part of the Mid-Atlantic European Union Simulation Consortium, offering students the opportunity to engage in simulations that cover various EU institutions and policies. This program allows students to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world issues. It involves debates and discussions on topics such as immigration policy, environmental policy, energy issues, and more. The simulation’s small size and group atmosphere encourage active participation, and students have the chance to take on leadership roles.

Annual intercollegiate trip to New York City. This event allows students to develop their public speaking, debate, and networking skills while engaging with over 2,500 students worldwide. The trip includes a briefing at the United Nations General Assembly, meetings with ambassador-rank diplomats, and spending five days in New York City. Students spend nearly a semester preparing for the conference by studying the foreign policy of a single nation-state. In recent years, the University of Lynchburg has represented Estonia, Iceland, Norway, Panama, Poland, and Slovakia.

The Ethics Bowl team is a debate team that focuses on ethical issues. The team competes against other regional colleges in two events: the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl in November and the VFIC Ethics Bowl in February.  In 2024, the Lynchburg team reached the final round at the VFIC Ethics Bowl for the first time in almost 16 years. In previous years, the team has also advanced to nationals in Portland in 2022 and scored two big wins at nationals in 2021.
