Our program offers a range of courses covering music theory, history, composition, and performance. Our faculty is comprised of experienced, talented, and professional musicians who are dedicated to helping students achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
As a Lynchburg music major, you’ll:
- Be immersed in a rich and diverse curriculum that’s designed to enhance your musical skills and knowledge and covers fundamental music theory, harmony, aural skills, and music technology.
- Explore advanced topics in music history and literature, tracing the development of Western music, from antiquity to the present day, and gaining insights into the music’s sociocultural context.
- Refine your performance abilities through intensive applied music instruction, choosing from a variety of instruments, including piano, organ, woodwinds, brass, percussion, strings, guitar, and more.
- Have dynamic ensemble experiences, from orchestras and wind symphonies to jazz ensembles and chamber music groups, that provide opportunities for collaborative performance and artistic growth.
- Engage in practical, real-world learning through internships, where you’ll apply your musical skills and knowledge in professional settings and gain valuable hands-on experience in the field.
