The Writing Center is a place where all University of Lynchburg students, faculty, and staff can come to improve their writing skills through a broad range of tutorial services. Established in 1981, the Center was renamed the Alton L. Wilmer Writing Center in 1997, in honor of the retired Pepsi-Cola executive whose career with the company spanned 34 years from 1959 to 1993.
Tutors assist with remedial to advanced levels of writing in all fields. The Center is equipped with six computers with a range of software applications, and reference books and writing texts are also available.
Where is it located?
The Writing Center is located on the ground floor of Hopwood Hall in room 4 (the center room).
Who will help me?
Tutors are current students who are carefully chosen for their ability to write and communicate with others.
They are trained to assist at all stages of the writing process (planning, organizing, revising, and final editing), and their goal is to teach you to take charge of your writing and produce clear and effective prose.
