The Nursing Program leads to a bachelor of science degree and qualifies students who wish to become registered nurses to take the National Council Licensing Examination.
If you plan to major in nursing, you are encouraged to apply early as the program is competitive and space is limited.
Nursing applications may only be submitted for the fall semester.

You must indicate nursing as your intended major. There is no separate application for the nursing major; however, your file will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee and the director of the nursing program.

Step 2: Submit Your Application Materials
- Official college transcripts
Transcripts must be mailed directly from the registrar’s office of each college/university you have attended. Concealing previous attendance at a post-secondary institution is considered an honor code violation and will result in the cancellation of your application and admission. - Prerequisite Courses
Prior to your first semester in the nursing program, you must complete general chemistry with lab with a grade of “C” or higher. You should have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and GPA of 3.0 or higher in the general nursing prerequisite courses. - A personal statement is encouraged.

All courses that applicants have taken will be considered in the admission process, with special emphasis on the following courses:

All students who apply must have a criminal background check for admission into the program.
Acceptance & Next Steps
If accepted, you will receive an acceptance letter from University of Lynchburg. This letter will also tell you whether you have been approved to begin and/or continue completing the nursing prerequisites.

Progression in the Major
During the first 2 years of the program, students take General Education and prerequisite courses for the nursing major. Nursing prerequisites for the major include Math 222, Chemistry 127, Biology 224 (with lab), Biology 225 (with lab), Psychology 241, and Health Promotion 270.
Progression to the upper division is competitive. You must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA in nursing pre-requisites and receive grades of “B-” or higher in the nursing courses. You must receive grades of “C” or higher in non-nursing courses.
