University of Lynchburg has appointed Dr. Sally Selden as the permanent vice president and dean for academic affairs.
Dr. Selden has served in this role on an interim basis since this summer while the College conducted a national search. The process drew 75 applicants, and two finalists were interviewed last week.
LC will benefit from Dr. Selden’s leadership, devotion to scholarship, and commitment to the College’s values, said Dr. Kenneth R. Garren, president. “She has had a distinguished career at University of Lynchburg and has already provided exemplary leadership to our college community,” he said. “I know that she will be a tremendous leader for University of Lynchburg as we move forward with the implementation of our strategic plans for the future.”
“I am honored by this vote of confidence and the opportunity to continue serving University of Lynchburg in this capacity,” said Dr. Selden. “I look forward to continue working with our dynamic faculty and staff to create the best possible environment where students can become educated and prepare for lives of work and service.”
Dr. Selden has served as a professor of management in the School of Business and Economics since 2001. She earned a PhD at the University of Georgia and an MPA and BA at the University of Virginia. She holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification, and her primary teaching interests are in the areas of management, human resource management, and leadership.
In 2013, she was selected for the Senior Leadership Academy, a leadership development program of the Council for Independent Colleges. She served as associate dean of academic affairs at University of Lynchburg for three years.
Dr. Selden is married with three sons who love baseball and camping.
