Efforts to become a more inclusive and equitable community have raised awareness about race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality as important to identity. But how often do we think about religion and spirituality as a crucial part of the DEI equation and which forms of spirituality do we include?
This conversation will explore the importance of spiritual and religious diversity, the amazing resources we have on our campus for nurturing religious pluralism, and the barriers in achieving a robust religious pluralism. This conversation will give us the opportunity to narrate our own campus experiences of spiritual diversity and reflect on stories from other campuses across the nation.
Dr. Amy Merrill Willis is Associate Professor and Chair of Religious Studies. Her Ph.D. is in Hebrew Bible from Emory University. She and her husband, Steve Willis, are ordained ministers in the Presbyterian Church (USA), which means her children are double PKs (preachers’ kids).
