According to Joetricia Humbles, a Lead Agent for Appomattox for Equality and an advocate for medical and mental health services, “The double standards used against not only African American athletes, but especially African American women have an impact on their mental health. Words have power in our society!”
Humbles is a mother of two and is outspoken about social injustices and racial inequality, especially how it impacts black lives, as well as creating more community resources in rural communities. She has an earned Bachelor’s degree in Rhetoric Studies and Mass Communication from the University of Virginia, a Master’s in General Counseling Studies from Capella University, and a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University.
