Prospective students apply online. When your application is complete, it will be sent to the enrollment committee for review. You will be notified of their decision in writing and it also will be posted on your admission portal.

Grade point average (undergraduate), graduate coursework (if applicable), GRE or GMAT test scores (when required), letters of recommendation, writing samples, and a record of work experience are among the items the enrollment committee reviews. Specific requirements vary by program.

Housing is available to graduate students on a limited-availability basis and includes traditional on-campus residence halls, apartments, and off-campus houses owned by the University. If interested in housing, contact gradhousing@lynchburg.edu.

Students can obtain a meal plan for the academic year, which varies in cost depending upon the number of weekly meals on the plan. There also are meal plans available for students living off campus. Some graduate assistantships include both housing and a meal plan.

International students are encouraged to begin the process of getting a student visa well in advance of the projected time of enrollment.

Please also note that the University of Lynchburg will need verification that the coursework you have completed at the undergraduate level is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree program in the United States. University of Lynchburg’s master’s degree programs typically allow up to six credits to be transferred into a degree program. The initial decision to accept transfer credit is made by the student’s academic advisor after admission. The advisor recommends approval to the dean of the respective school. A transfer credit request form is available from the Office of Graduate Success.

Full-time students can complete master’s degree programs in one to two years, depending on their program of study.

Students must complete their degree program in six years. The majority of part-time master’s degree students complete their degrees in three years. More information is available from the Office of Graduate Success, including a four-year projection for the schedule of courses. The DPT and EdD programs are three-year, full-time, cohort programs.

During the fall and spring semesters, graduate classes are commonly held one night a week, 4:30 to 7 p.m. or 7 to 9:30 p.m. Courses also are offered online. In addition, alternative schedules in the fall and spring include a limited number of courses that meet over a series of weekends (Friday night/Saturday).

In the summer, Lynchburg offers a series of three- and six-week classes. Three-week classes typically meet 2.5 to 3.0 hours per day, either in the mornings or in the late afternoons. Six-week classes typically meet twice a week in the late afternoons or early evenings. The DPT, MSAT, and MPAM schedules reflect full-time (daily) attendance.
