How long does it take to complete the DPT program?
The new anticipated curriculum is a seven-semester continuous program (year-round), beginning with application and admission decisions in fall/winter, with classes beginning in August the following year. Students then graduate in December, seven semesters following admission.
For those under the previous curriculum, it is a three-year continuous program (year-round), beginning with application and admission decisions in fall/winter, with classes beginning in late May/early June. Students then graduate in May, three years following admission.

May I attend the University of Lynchburg DPT program on a part-time basis?
The courses for the Lynchburg DPT program are administered in a continuous step-lock sequence, requiring full-time student attendance. Presently no mechanism would allow a student to attend part time.
Do I need to have a bachelor's degree in any particular discipline to apply?
As a requirement for admission into the Lynchburg DPT program, each applicant must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university. The applicant may major in any field of study. Common majors among applicants include biology, exercise science/physiology, human food and nutrition, and kinesiology. The prerequisite courses are also necessary for application.
Is there a minimum score I must achieve on the Graduate Record Exam to apply?
No minimum score is required, only that scores are submitted.
Should I retake a course if I receive a low grade?
The applicant pool for the DPT program has historically been quite competitive. Any applicant may retake any coursework at his/her will. Coursework retaken will be computed according to the grade replacement policy.
I noticed there was a minimum of a 3.0 GPA for application. Does my 3.22 GPA ensure me a position in the Lynchburg DPT program?
There is no guarantee of acceptance based on any criteria. The DPT Admissions Committee will consider the entire application when determining what applicants will be selected for admission. The admission process is expected to be extremely competitive, as is the case for all DPT programs. You should consult our PTCAS program page for the previous year’s averages.
Do I need to complete all the prerequisite courses listed before I can apply?
An application may be submitted any time when PTCAS opens its website in July, however, we will not review your application until no more than two courses are outstanding. All required prerequisite courses, baccalaureate degree, and admitted student requirements MUST be completed before any student may enter the program of study.
How many students does the DPT program accept each year?
The program accepts 52 students annually.

Does the program offer Graduate Assistantships to enrolled students?
There are approximately ten Graduate Assistant positions available to first and second-year DPT students. These positions require that each student achieves and maintains high professionalism and academic achievement.
