The University of Lynchburg’s Advanced Counseling Certificate program provides students an opportunity to complete advanced graduate work leading to potential eligibility for status as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Courses can be selected in order to meet individual professional development goals. The faculty advisor will work with students to design an appropriate course sequence.
This program is designed to meet the needs of:
- Individuals seeking to become licensed as professional counselors.

Prerequisite
- Prior completion of a master’s degree in community counseling, school counseling, or related area.
Upon completion of this certificate program, students will be able to:
- Develop a specialization in the field of counseling that will be readily applicable to agency and private practice settings.
- Enhance understanding of the multifaceted challenges counselors face when working in therapy with individuals and families.
