Biography

Dr. Jon B. Christensen, adjunct faculty at the University of Lynchburg, is a 2022 DMSc graduate and recipient of the inaugural Emergency Management Global Health award. A retired military veteran with nearly 32 years of service, he was a pioneer in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and Prolonged Field Care (PFC) training. He served over 20 years in US Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF) as an operator and physician assistant, earning the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and induction into the Order of Military Medical Merit.

An expert in global health and wilderness medicine, he has taught on four continents and worked as a remote medical provider in the Aleutian Islands. He holds multiple certifications in emergency and tactical medicine and is affiliated with the College of Remote and Offshore Medicine, University College Cork, and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.
