The University of Lynchburg’s Annual Senior Art Thesis Exhibition opens Monday, May 9, in the Daura Museum of Art. A reception and awards ceremony will be held from 4-5 p.m. The exhibit runs through Tuesday, May 17. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Daura Museum exhibits shed light on drug addiction, domestic violence
When her son, Devin, died after a fentanyl overdose in 2018, Theresa Clower turned to art as a way to deal with her grief. Her first project was a pencil drawing of her son. That portrait sparked “INTO LIGHT: Erasing the Stigma of Drug Addiction,” one of two exhibits opening Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the University of Lynchburg’s Daura Museum of Art.

Lynchburg’s Daura Gallery changes name to Daura Museum of Art
At its February 2020 meeting, the University of Lynchburg Board of Trustees unanimously approved the renaming of the Daura Gallery to Daura Museum of Art. The new name “better reflects our mission as a teaching museum that enhances the University of Lynchburg’s academic mission,” Dr. Barbara Rothermel, director of the Daura Museum of Art, said.
Daura Gallery sponsors ‘quarantine art’ show featuring children’s works
A few weeks ago, Daura Gallery director Dr. Barbara Rothermel and coordinator Laura Cole sent out a campuswide email soliciting works of art for a virtual exhibition. Connie Fox exhibit opens September 2 at Daura Gallery
An exhibit of work by abstract painter Connie Fox, will open Monday, September 2, in the University of Lynchburg’s Daura Gallery. The exhibit, which runs through Friday, December 6, also features figurative sculptures by Fox’s late husband, William King.
