The University of Lynchburg dedicated two new spaces on Thursday evening, Oct. 24, the E. Stewart Coleman Gallery and the Crank Plaza. A ceremony marking the occasion was held on the new plaza, which is located in front of Daura Museum of Art.

DPT program gets new treatment tables for student-run clinic
A $10,000 grant from the Titmus Foundation and an $8,780 grant from the Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation, the Faye Marcum Mifka Fund, the Jeff and Sandra Wilson Fund, and the Robert R. Bowen, MD Foundation Fund have funded the purchase and replacement of treatment tables for the University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
Planned gift received from daughter of former Lynchburg president
The University of Lynchburg has received an estate gift from Ann Montgomery Moses ’51 in the amount of $118,955. The gift was designated to the Riley B. and Kate Walker Montgomery Scholarship Fund, established in 2004 by Moses and her brother, Dr. C. Hunter Montgomery ’47.

At sunset on Friday, Sept. 13, Phil Mazzara ’70 will join a select group of dignitaries, major donors, and other VIPs for the “First Illumination” of the National World War I Memorial’s centerpiece sculpture, “A Soldier’s Journey.”
Lynchburg raises more than $6.5 million in FY24
The University of Lynchburg raised more than $6.5 million in Fiscal Year 2024, according to the institution’s Office of Advancement. The total can be attributed to 2,935 donors. Of these, 2,363 were individuals and 703 were first-time donors to the University. Alumni accounted for 1,319 of the total donors.
Recent alumni estate gifts total more than $1.2 million
Over the past several months, the University of Lynchburg received two estate gifts totaling more than $1.2 million.

A $400,000 planned gift from the late Hugh Scrogham ’66, ’69 MEd will support two University of Lynchburg scholarships that the alumnus and longtime staff member established in 2018.
‘Absolutely incredible’ GiveDay raises more than $270K
At 9:41 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, the University of Lynchburg’s GiveDay total sat at $219,677. Most of the challenges and matches — everything from the Afghanistan Student Education Fund to the tennis team — were on their way to being met.

An anonymous alumna and her husband have made a $7,000 challenge gift to encourage others to give to the Dr. Patricia Aronson Scholarship during the University of Lynchburg’s annual GiveDay event on Thursday, April 18. If the fund receives 15 donors on GiveDay, the full $7,000 will be unlocked.
