Dr. Paul McClure’s Applied Sociology course is all about helping sociology students connect classroom ideas to community action. On Thursday, they got to sit down with three local leaders in community building movements and learn more about sociology in action.
Commencement Spotlight: Rayfurd Thompson
Rayfurd Thompson might never leave Lynchburg. In 2016, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in economic crime prevention and investigation, a program that draws on a number of disciplines, among them accounting, criminology, and computer science. In 2017, he finished a Master of Business Administration. On Saturday, he’ll don the mortarboard again for a master’s degree in nonprofit leadership studies.
