The University of Lynchburg has been reaccredited by the National Association of Schools of Music until the 2030-31 academic year.
University of Lynchburg Wind Symphony and Orchestra to honor Veterans Day with concert
“An American Salute: Duty, Honor, Country,” will take place this Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in Sydnor Performance Hall, located in Schewel Hall on the University of Lynchburg’s campus.
Lynchburg launches harmonica program
For the first time, students at the University of Lynchburg can add harmonica to their class schedules. This fall, the University launched an accredited harmonica program — thought to be the only one of its kind in the U.S. The half-credit course, Applied Music-Harmonica, is taught by world-renowned musician and adjunct music professor Dr. George Miklas.
Fall theater season kicks off Sept. 16
The University of Lynchburg’s fall theater lineup features five performances throughout the semester. “Curtain Call and Dance Works,” the first show of the year, will be presented on Friday, Sept. 16, in conjunction with Families Weekend.

The University of Lynchburg will enter into a formal partnership with the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, Aug. 25. The agreement, to be signed on the University campus that afternoon, will be followed by a 7 p.m. performance of LSO’s Big Band.

Not long before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Christopher Badgett ’13 and his mother had planned to see “The Color Purple” together. The popular musical, based on a novel by Alice Walker and a 1985 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, is one of Badgett’s favorites. So is one of its musical numbers, “I’m Here.”
