From spiders in Panama to a 3D-printed syringe pump, the Student Scholar Showcase on April 6 will highlight a variety of projects by more than 150 Lynchburg College students. This year’s showcase includes two poster presentation sessions — one in Memorial Ballroom at noon and one in the Flint Family Lobby of Schewel Hall at 4 p.m. Oral presentations will take place in Hopwood Auditorium, Sydnor Performance Hall, Schewel room 231 and 232 throughout the day.

LC students help nationwide earthworm research
Lynchburg College students recently dug up earthworms — and data — for a national study that will help biologists understand the nature of invasive species. They collected more than 100 earthworms and identified the species of each one.
Head impact research continues with summer grant
A Lynchburg College professor and several students continue to work this summer on research designed to improve lacrosse and soccer safety. One student, Bradley Jackson ‘16, received a $2,000 fellowship from the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges to support his role in the project.
How LC students’ river research will keep clean drinking water in Costa Rica
Future research on Costa Rican streams will be able to measure changes in pollution levels thanks to work by LC students this summer. A group of students will spend two weeks gathering data from rivers there, then Jade Woll ’16 will spend another four weeks in Costa Rica analyzing the samples to gauge current water conditions.
