Pianist Dr. Ray Luck will perform a concert in the University of Lynchburg’s Sydnor Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28. The concert is free and open to the public.
The program includes music composed by Franz Joseph Haydn, Frédéric Chopin, and Manuel De Falla. Dr. Luck also will present a master class at 1 p.m. Friday, March 29, in Sydnor Performance Hall. It, too, is free and open to the public.
Dr. Luck taught for more than two decades at nearby Randolph-Macon Woman’s College — now Randolph College — where he was the Charles A. Dana Professor of Music and received the Katherine Graves Davidson Distinguished Faculty Award.
Dr. Luck, who has performed, lectured and held master classes across the globe, was a prizewinner at the Geneva International Piano Competition and was appointed a member of the Order of Service of Guyana with the Cacique’s Crown of Honor.
He has performed at numerous prestigious venues, including London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall and Royal Albert Hall, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, and New York’s Lincoln Center.
