The University of Lynchburg has officially adopted its new strategic plan. Building on Vision 2020+, “Reimagine the Lynchburg Experience” puts a spotlight on the student experience.
“What makes the University of Lynchburg so special is our sense of community, the people, and the commitment to students — these are core values of the Lynchburg experience,” President Dr. Alison Morrison-Shetlar said.
“Alumni echo those very sentiments, and they also report how much they benefited from the breadth of experiential learning and the high level of faculty engagement. It’s clear that life and career preparedness are major strengths of the University.”
The five-year plan, Morrison-Shetlar added, takes all that into account. Its goals, she said, emerged from many months of campus surveys, conversations, and deliberations among faculty, staff, and students.
Overall, “Reimagine the Lynchburg Experience” seeks to broaden the University’s impact on campus and in the community.
“We will expand enrollment, make a deeper commitment to the use of data for decision-making, leverage our expertise to share leadership development, infuse operations with an innovative approach to problem-solving, and ensure a campus environment built on inclusive excellence,” the new strategic plan states.
“The University will work toward ‘programs of distinction’ that draw new students to us and enhance the value and reputation of the Lynchburg experience.”
The president’s three pillars — Leadership Development; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and Innovation and Collaboration — are reflected in the strategic plan’s goals: Leadership for the Future, An Inclusive Campus and Collaborative Community, and A Pathway to Innovation.
“By creating this new strategic plan, we’re already beginning to reimagine the Lynchburg experience,” Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Allison Jablonski said.
“Just like with the president’s three pillars, these are the innate strengths of the University, the strengths of our people on which we are building, and it’s through collaboration and innovation — and the leadership of every single person on this campus — that we will achieve the goals we have set forth.”
