In support of the University’s mission, the mission of the Community Expectations and Restorative Practices (CERP) office is to educate students on the expectations, including their rights and responsibilities, as members of the University of Lynchburg community. Through a restorative framework, CERP upholds academic and community standards; encourages personal accountability and responsible decision making; promotes student learning; advocates for inclusivity and initiatives around diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice; and strives to reduce and prevent behavior that undermines the success and safety of the institution.
Through CERP’s work, we seek to resolve allegations of individual misconduct in a manner consistent with our values. We are committed to providing a fair, objective, efficient, professional, and respectful process that balances the interests of the individual student and the community at large in efforts to foster a culture of care. CERP expects of itself that students will walk away from their engagement with CERP feeling seen, heard, valued, and treated with dignity. We seek to educate and support students holistically through reflective conversations and campus resources that will help our students become better citizens while at Lynchburg and beyond.
Our Vision is…
To create a culture of care within the university community where all members of the community recognize the impact of their actions on others, where all members of the community promote the high standards expected of all members of the community, and effectively resolving conflict is central to shaping the Lynchburg experience.
