First-year Initiatives offers a variety of opportunities for current students to serve Lynchburg assisting their fellow students. Research shows that peer connections can be the most powerful influence in providing a successful transition to any institution. In addition, peer mentors provide the lived experiences and perspectives peers seek as they navigate Lynchburg.

Connections Program Coordinator: Oversees the Connections Program, which works with incoming freshmen students and their families each year. Applications go live in November.
Links Leader Coordinator: Oversees the Links Program, which works with incoming transfer, Access, and second-degree students and their families each year. Applications go live in January.
Connection Leader: Facilitates Connections Groups, which is a group of 14-16 incoming freshmen students. Applications go live in December.
Link Leader: Facilitates Link Groups, which is a group of 15-20 incoming transfer, Access, and/or second-degree students during their orientation experience. Applications go live in January.
Link Mentor: Engages with individual transfer, Access, and/or second-degree students throughout the year in one-on-one connections to facilitate their transition to Lynchburg. Applications go live in January.
Orientation Leader: Facilitates Orientation Groups, which is a group of 14-16 incoming freshmen students attending orientation. Applications go live in December.
