“An American Salute: Duty, Honor, Country,” will take place this Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in Sydnor Performance Hall, located in Schewel Hall on the University of Lynchburg’s campus.
Admission is free and the event is open to the public, but tickets must be reserved in advance and are required for entry.
In addition to the University’s Wind Symphony and Orchestra, directed by Dr. Oeida Hatcher, the concert will feature the Community Big Band, directed by Dr. Chris Magee and the Studio Singers, directed by Mark Craig. It will also feature vocalists Mark Craig and Sloane Kelly ’22, ’24 MPAM.
The performance will feature selections from Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, George M. Cohen, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, and more.
The University has been a “Purple Heart University” since 2019. Awarded by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the designation recognizes the University for its support of veterans wounded in combat.
